Changing my WordPress Theme to Mimbo

I have used two different themes on this site now, the first was Cutline the second one was Revolution Blue.

Both are very good theme’s and very well ready for a Search Engine Optimized website.

Still I wanted to have a more Magazine likke template and looking for one that was really created for WordPress 2.7 and up I found the new Mimbo 3.

WordPress website building

This new free magazine theme is build as a framework and has the possibility for the use of “Child Themes” build in.

So changing the style can be done without touching the theme itself, just chang the child theme and all functions from the theme will be there.

A great advantage from this is that if you have heavily customized the theme via sucha child theme, a new version can be installed and will work without you toudhing any of the core files.

I know, it is still a new way of working with customizing your design with child themes, but I know that I will be looking into thise options real soon :-)

My Frontpage is not like the standard of Mimbo, since that is really build for a Blog page and this site is not…

How about you? Do you work with WordPress Theme frameworks yet, or are you still waiting to see how it evolves?

@milan: I hear you, this site was first set up to show people who are already familiar with WordPress how they could use it for more then just blogging.

You comment made me realize that I need to extend the site to give you (and others) a complete guide on how to setup, configure and organize your content and build your own WordPress website.

The first instance of this site was aimed at showing people how you can change and use WordPress themes to look like a “normal” website.

Thank you for you comment, I is a wake-up call for me :-)
